Default Nooooob!!!

Hey there! I'm a Noob to both the Mazda Forum AND to Mazda! I'm coming from a long history with Subarus. I just bought a 2014 CX-5 Touring CPO. It had aftermarket leather seats added, and I had the dealer put aftermarket heaters in the seats and the OEM Navigation in. So far I really like it!

One little issue is that I can't get the drivers seat to tilt back. I've got the 6-way power drivers seat, and I'd like to have my butt a little more settled in. So I need the seat bottom rear to rest lower than the front. Any ideas?

Hi Rick!! Welcome to both!!

It's brand new (2014) and already has aftermarket seats? That's awfully weird.
Well, I had a similar issue in my Mazda3... and a Honda civic I once owned. I was able to get longer bolts and put shims (washers or short pieces of tubing) between the seat frames and the floor. You could try that, depending how the frames are mounted.
Oh, and be sure to loosen all the bolts before attempting to do this or you'll have a heck of a time.

With 6 way power seat your can easily tilt the seat base, then adjust the seat back to suit.

Thanks. Good idea on the shims.

The seats are oem. The leather and heaters are aftermarket.

Oh. That makes more sense.
Yeah, if the seat rails bolt flat this works quite well. If they bolt in from the front, you may have trouble making it happen. Also, a little goes a long way with shimming, but be sure to get some good quality replacement bolts that are a bit longer... 10 mm will be more than enough.

Grim, the six way power seat does not have tilt on the seat base. It has fore & aft movement, recline up & down, and seat up & down.

Guess the figure there is enough thigh support, or simply forgot about it?
Why would anybody need power recline? Arthritis? LOL
I'd much rather have a tilt function.

Rickprins, where in the world are you?

New Zealand & Australian models have tilt base, when you raise & lower the seat, the **** tilts and allows base tilting. It wont work if the base is at the fully up or fully down position.

He's in Massachusetts, US.
He has power seats, so the tilt feature may not apply.
