Sorry to infiltrate like this. I have an emergency question. It is the only reason I am here, and I have found forums the best place for info.

1996 Mazda 626. 4 cyl. I need to see, or find out which tooth on the balancer is supposed to be missing.

The story, and it is comical. Friend of mine replaced his water pump. Balancer had to come off. The bolt was very tight, so, he stuck a prybar into the teeth. With a mighty tug, the pesky bolt broke loose. As did several of the teeth. No problem. His neighbor, was a welder. He took the part and welded new teeth. He was very proud of his work. Car would not hit a lick. Then they called me.

Hmmm,i don't have one to post a pic of but i think i would get a new one as that is critical for timing and if it's off a hair it could cause issues. For future reference if no impact is available you can wedge the ratchet against a solid point such as the frame and bump the starter to break that bolt loose. Work smart not hard.
