Default NEWBIE

Hello everyone

Well I just bought my very first Mazda.
It's a 1996 MPV 4x4.
Any comments?

So far so good. It needs a few things but it seems perty nice.

Well People

My wife is still on her first tank of gas and seems to be average for mileage per gallon.
I had to put a rear tail pipe on it, but besides that it passed Massachusetts inspection no problem.

I have this whining noise and can't put my finger on it yet.

Does anyone know if there is a posting of repair manual for a 1996 MPV.

I would like to change the timing belt and the water pump.

Any help in this area is greatly appreciated.

What kind of whining noise are you hearing slyder? I do not know of any posts for a t-belt/water pump replace job but can send you some info if you need it. Please ignore the Cannuks ( That would be you 6Pack ) as they are you know, cannuks and do not know any better then being Canadian. Had to poke that in there 6Pack as my fiance is Canadian. Seriously though, If you need some info on replacing the t-belt/water pump, I could send you some info with diagrams on replacing if you want to do the job yourself. Let me know.

Morning Babyhuey

I'm not sure where the noise is coming from. When I push on the gas ( the thing up on the top and front of the motor) it sometimes goes away and yet other times it gets faster and louder. From what I can figure it has to be the belts, alternator, waterpump, power steering, I don't know. I've been reading the owners manual and it recomends that the timing belt be replaced every 60,000 miles, it now has 121,000. I figured this would be a good place to start. Is there a good repair manual out there that is better than another, yet on the CHEAP side. I like repairing my own stuff, anything no matter what it is. Yes, I admit it! I'm CHEAP. So any information you could send on the HOW TO take down and replace would be great.

Hey 6Pack [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Thanks for all your help
