Default New to the Mazters

Bought a Mazda6 2.0ts2 as my first decent car in my entire life, am used to bangers and parental hand-me-downs. Always other priorites like saving for a house, hunting wife and settling down lol. From small hatches to coupes and an old banger estate, we opted for a 2008 Mazda 6. Nearly went for diesel read about the DMF issues and as we mainly drive around town and medium journeys opted for petrol.

Hope it's going to go well pick it up next weekend Looks really nice, great nick, drives well so hopefully a happy relationship for many years to come.

Don't know anything about mechanics, mods or cars in general so bound to be asking questions over the coming months.

Peace and thanks in advance...

Welcome aboard MFX (Mazda Forum Extra?? ,) and congrats on the new mobile too!!
Be sure to start and album and garage to help you keep track of your progress, maintenance, etc....
But... why is it taking so long to get the car? In the U.S. it usually only takes one to two day after the deal is final to pick up a new, or new-to-you car.

Well there is a little bit of a story behind it and I have work which doesn't tie in very well with the dealers opening hours. Buying used from a local Mazda dealer so get all the warranties and so forth inc.

Bottom line is the alloys had some bubbling on all 4 of them, nothing major but enough to notice so they are refurbishing the alloys for us. Not sure what's involved so any pitfalls or things to be aware of surrounding the alloy refurb please let me know prior to Friday. As I understand its from the salt of the roads during winter.

The other wait is having the reversing sensors fitted, non Mazda but apparently just as good with life time warranty (whatever a lifetime relates to). Not sure on brand need to find out.

My only concern is the rear light cover has a little, very minor, condensation in it.

Apart from that can not wait...test drove it very nice, little noisey in the cabin but compared to the current car, a 14 years old Peugeot 306 Diesel estate, it's bliss

A few dealer pic to share (wasn't sure on the colour metallic silver/lilac, wife likes it and it's good to be different lol). To be honest I like it.

There is no such thing as a "little" condensation in a sealed light assem.
I would have them fix, or replace it before taking possession. The problem will only get worse in the long run.

Wheels, yeah. Road salt is alternately one of the best, and worse things for your car. If you run in those conditions often, say 4-6 months a year, I would consider a set of junkers (fitted with winter capable rubber) for that period of time.
They will likely sand down the bad areas, fill any pits and repaint. It what they use to fill that would cause me concern, especially if you are planning to stay with the factory wheels, instead of purchasing an aftermarket set.

Yep called the dealership[ today and requested the condensation and cover replaced. Usual non commital response except get mech's to check it out and look into it (a no then) and that mazdas are prone to this madaz 3s etc. Sounds total BS. We will see what happens...
