New Lad
Thanks carid. She has 175000k's which is not to bad. Had a lot of dash lights on but got those sorted with fuses etc. Have replaced the alternator and now i finds the sump plug is stripped and the oil filter is leaking. They will be sorted next week. The CV joints have a slight rattle but they should last a while i hope. I did not pay a lot so a few additional expenses are ok. It has side steps but i may remove them. All in all i am happy with her. I started a facebook page for owners to join but so far only myself and 2 others but will grow in time i guess. It is just a page for pictures etc. Just a note on the alternator it was the internal regulator that was the problem, voltage jumping up and down. Caused lights to flicker as well at times hard to get out of park. Also the transmission was over / under reacting. These computer driven cars need everything to be spot on. The Hyundai i had prior had a similar problem and it acted the same way. Thanks for the welcome and if anyone is interested just type in Mazda Tribute on Facebook.
Hi Welcome
Iam also an aussie i see you are down the shoalhaven area iam on the central coast and my tribute is a 2005, and just ticked 210,000k but was a one owner, i have replaced a battery and cv joints at the front as well as ball joints and tie rods plus inner rack ends and serviced the trans (their weak point) will have owned it 2 years at new year, sorry i do not nosebook so unfortunately i will not be on there, we bought it mainly for ur bad backs as being higher off the ground it is easier to get n and out off

Hi
peedee
and thanks.
Some years back we had a Rav4 but it was a bit small for me. Suited my wife well. I got something bigger, a Hyundai Terracan, but it was a bit hard for my wife to exit / enter. She tolerated it for 18 months though. So i sold it and got the Tribute. Suits us both, she has bad legs and my self a crook back amongst other things. I have spent a bit on the Tribute with a bit to go however i only paid $4k for it so a bit extra spent on it is ok. This is the first Mazda i have owned and i have to say i am impressed. Even with the crook things i still like her. Had to replace the console covering, seems to be a prob with them. Not that i use it but the sunroof is the biggest i have seen fitted to a standard MV. Took us both a bit of time to get used to the auto stick in the column but more room down below with it where it is.She has 175000 ks. Being black all marks show up badly. There is a new Turtle Wax, swirl remover or something its called, i will give it a try. Is a 2004 model.
