Default New! Help! Hahha

So my wife and I bought a 2004 mpv recently with 68k miles.. started leaking from the pan about a month ago. So I got the parts..dropped the pan and it appears that the pan gasket and pan

are for an earlier model.. like an 03.. maybe early 04 model? Seems odd. That and the pan plug threads are stripped so I have to helicoil it. Does anyone have insight on why my 04 uses the older style gasket? And the gasket I got is the grooved style.. not even close to the one I pulled off the van. Should I just buy a new pan and gasket for an 03? Or just get the right gasket and fix the drain plug? Plate on the engine says 6/18/03
thanks so much!!
