Default Need Engine for 1987 B2000 truck

I have a 1987 B2000 Manual transmission truck. I just bought it and it needs a new engine. My uncle can help me with the swap, but I'd like to get an engine with a little more get up and go. Has anyone done this and do you have advice on what would be a good engine to put in the truck?

For enough money you can put in V8 power from a Chevy LS; more realistically though, putting in the same 2.0 liter motor will be your most cost effective solution. Anything else in between the 2.0 and the LS will cost you incrementally more money.

shipo - would the later engines from the B series be easy exchanges?

While I don't know for sure, I believe it to be highly unlikely. Later engines were a complete mish-mash of designs, styles, and connections/interfaces.

the b2200 used the same block and intake and exhaust and a bunch of other stuff so you can put a 2200 in it and have 200 more cc's
