I'm an American living and working in Europe (Slovakia) for an extended period of time. Wife and I just had our first child and are looking into buying something in the mini-MPV market segment. So far the Toyota Corolla-Verso and the Mazda 5 have really caught our eye... both suit our needs for space and efficiency with diesel motors.

After spending some time here I'm really starting to get excited about the Mazda 5!! I'm chomping at the bit to go for a test drive but my wife wants to wait until our daughter is on more of a schedule (she's only 4 weeks old).

Anyhow, I'm going to be spending more time around here...I'm hoping that there's some info about the diesel engines. The Toyota has gotten very good ratings for its D-4D 2.2l engines, hopefully the same holds true for the Mazda diesels - if that's the case then I'm sold on the M5.

Oh, I've never owned Japanese before. I'm a RWD Volvo nut (240/740/940).
