Default Lotus 7 type build using Mazda parts, thats why I'm here.

Hello

I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Louisville in Kentucky working on designing a Lotus 7 inspired car from the ground up. I am in love with the rotary engine and feel it would be the perfect powerplant for my project. With this and the Miata's four wheel double withbone suspension I think that I could create a very formidable car for a resonable price.

The plan, at the moment, is to power the vehicle with a 13b turbo engine from an RX-7, use the transmission that comes bolted to that vehicle but couple the RX-7 tid-bits to the driveshaft and rear end of a Miata. I will use the suspension uprights from the miata all the way around but create my own A-arms. That is as far as I have progressed at this point.

This is where you guys come in, I need some dimensions. I need to know where the ball joint mounts are on the miata's suspension bits as well as where they are in relation to the axel. I also need to know the size of the RX-7 engine and transmission and where their mounts are. The prices of these items are also of interest.

If you are interested in helping out let me know and I will provide more specific instructions. This could turn out to be an impressive project, though it will be a long time before I am ready to build it.

Thank you for your interest and I will be sure to keep you all updated on the progress of my project.

Thanks
Eric B

I would suggest that you try to find some site that is RX-7 specific and perhaps more technical, same for Miata
