I do agree. I took a performance driving school back in the '80's when I still lived only about an hour away from Pocono International Raceway and it was a TOTAL blast!! For at the time it was expensive and took three days of driving back and forth, but worth every penny.
And better wheels and especially tires is a must.
And yes I am lowered just about an inch+ on H&R's. Lowering the center of gravity always improves handling.
As far as exhaust is concerned, if its sound you want, go to your local muffler shop and have them install a performance/free-flow muffler in place of the factory. It'll be much cheaper and you are much less liable to lose low end torque.
The cold air intake... yup, got one of those too. Is it worth the money? No, not in my opinion, but it does clean up the engine compartment and gives the illusion of performance.

Not sure about with 3's, but I know with rotary you gotta build a box for the intake if you go "cold" air intake, because the temp under the hood is higher than a piston engine.

I would look into getting a box built that will block off warm air from reaching it from the bay, and making sure that it's at an angle to get the most cold air possible.

Also agree with better wheels and tires. Strut bars as well as sway bars, aftermarket bushings when your currents are shot, I know throwing coilovers on my car showed a huge increase in handling capabilities.... but for a daily driver I don't recommend it, if you're not willing to put up with a lot of crap such as driving sideways over stuff, making sure if you can't to drive down the center of a speed bump, pissing people off by pulling into a steep driveway like you're 87 years old... etc etc...

Also, yes, performance driving class... I have yet to do it, but I've heard it's amazing. I look forward to going to one hopefully some day.
