Obviously, Im new here. My name is Dan and Im from Durham NC. I just got a 2002 Protege5 manuel. This is my first car but Iv been into working on cars for as long as I can remember. Its currently stock except for an aftermarket sound system the previous own put in(its a sony, not sure what model off the top of my head). I got it with 180000 miles on it so the first thing I did was take it into the shop and have them replace the timing belt and water pump. While they were in there I had them give it a total once over. They ended up replacing the sturts, brake pads, front rotors, and front tires(even with having to replace all this the price I got the car at still made it worth it). Other than all that the mechanic said that it was a very solid car and the engine is in great shape. The body and interior are also spotless. I plan on moding it but being that Im a teenager that pays his own gas and insurence the money flow is slow. So far what I would like to do to it is add a sub (something decent but nothing insane), cold air intake/short ram, cat-back exhaust, performence header, mp3 ecu, and maybe HID but im not sure about that.
