Hey guys, I have a 96 Miata with a bad engine, crank destroyed by harmonic balancer. I got an engine on line from Japan. Can not get it to run. any ideas what to check. Appears no fuel at right time. New fuel pump too.

 

Fuel at the wrong time? like the injectors are firing at the wrong time - that would be a crank angle sensor or wiring problem (wrong harness connection to the injector). Even if the fuel was at the wrong time I am pretty sure the engine would still run, since there's still fuel getting to the intake.
What did the old engine come from? same model / trim? is it used or a rebuild?
If it's not the same model there may be some different sensors or wiring on the different model.

You may need to start from scratch, compression, spark, fuel, and see if there are any engine codes set in the computer.
