Default 89 b2600i cleaning old head from parts truck that has sat without fluid for years

It looks like I'm burning coolant in my 89 b2600i, suspect that it's a head gasket.

Since I'm going to be taking the engine down to the head to diagnose the issue. I figured I'd swap head from my parts truck into it.

The parts truck I had put a few thousand dollars worth of parts and machine work into. But my roommate totaled it before I had the opportunity to even put fluids in it, after a full engine rebuild. After towing it across the country it has been sitting for 5-7 years.

I wasn't sure what work I should have done on the parts truck head before swapping it.

It was a brand new head, that I had machined, new valves, lifters and a resurfaced the camshaft. But it has since been sitting for several years, having possibly no motor oil on it.

Pictures would help.
Depending on if the engine was exposed to water or moisture will have a lot to do with the state of condition of the parts. An engine is somewhat sealed from the elements if complete.
