Question Brakes.....what to buy

Hey guys,
We have a 2018 CX5 GT and I wanted to check with you all for your thoughts on what brake pads and rotors to buy. Its the wife's car so I want a good setup, or do I? Joke... Let me know if I just need to do my normal dance and find a good set on sale or are these cars finicky. Any hints or things to look out for when doing the brakes would be appreciated. I have already watched the video on how to turn off the e-brake seems almost like a gag when you watch it.
Thank you in advance! and Happy New Year

I had fun dealing with the electric emergency brake. I eventually got it to work, I had to watch the video a couple of times. It could be easier but it works. I changed my rotors to slotted and drilled. More responsive braking and heavy braking doesn't cause fade. One caveat though, I was in heavy traffic and hit some cold water while under heavy braking and now have a warp in the rotors. The slotted rotors are lighter and more prone to warping. The factory solid ones get hotter but have more mass to absorb heat.

A good semi metallic pad works just fine. If your wife rides the brakes, go slotted. If she doesn't slam on the brakes at the last minute or ride them, regular rotors will work just fine.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. She is not a hard stopper or break rider. I know she has been too close and had to jam on the breaks. I was able to get a great deal on slotted and drilled rotors for my daughters Element but if no deals then I will probably go with a higher end regular rotors and a high end pad.

Thanks

The slots and drilling make the rotor lighter so you have less rotational inertia to overcome. They also shed heat faster due to a combination of the ventilation and less mass to absorb heat. I tend to drive in a........spirited......manner so I stay with the holes and slots. A good set of solid rotors will last longer and work just fine.

I like slotted and drilled rotors, but the unfortunate thing is they get a bad rap from supplier/manufactures that do a bad finishing job when drilling. If the holes are not chambered they cause frackuring wich leads to cracked and failing rotors. Buy from a well known manufacture and not the bargain brand.

I do my own drilling and sometimes slots if I feel like spending about an hour or more per rotor. LOL

And not to rain on anyone's parade.. drilled and or slotted rotors in any variation on the street is really all about the looks. Solid rotors are really the better way to go.
On the BBK I offer both versions but always try to sell solid over any other configuration for a Street Car.

Upgraded my Cork Sport slotted rotor to a drilled and slotted rotor.. why cuzzzzz "RACE CAR" look...
