Hey my97323f 80,000 miles has developed misfire problem i think???? thats what youd call it not great with cars.

when i accelerate car will hesitate and then suddenly all power seems to come at once. The problem is not there all the time but seems a bit worse in wet weather and is worse at low speeds and best at high rpm's. ranges from slight hesitation to call not wanting to move. worse when under load.changed some parts and borrowered others from friends car (also97 323)to try find problem as im a student and cant afford main dealer costs

new spark plugs, new spark wires
borrowed airflow meter no better.
Tested on diagnostics machine 3 times no problems showing

any help much appreciated with this long running annoying problem. some one told me ignition coil may be problem???

Did anybody find a solution to this problem?

I have a '97 323 and after having the clutch replaced, it is showing exactly the problem described above.

Above 2000rpm it is fine but below that it seems to misfire (or just judder) under acceleration.

 

Did this prob just start or did prob start after you had worked under hood? Did you double check wires and the routing of wires? No check engine light codes? Hmmmmm

 

The problem started immediately after having the clutch replaced (thanks Mr. Clutch!). Some people have hinted that it could be something to do with the o2 sensor, but I dont really know how that is supposed to work.

 

From the symptoms you are all describing I'm guess MAF sensor.
It sounds a lot like my 3 when it had that problem.

 

That sounds, something unbelievable, but its a technology after all....

So need to be careful and with full precaution before moving for a long drive.

My 323f has developed such a problem. I arrived at this thread and the first few posts seemed to desribe the fault perfectly. As I read more I figured I would find the answer in a subsequent post but then it all became rather surreal and most disappointing of all, no solution!
Any serious ideas anyone?
On older cars without electronic ignition, the ignition condenser would have been the prime supect but on more modern systems ......?
