94 Mazda MPV alternator is good, wiring checked but alternator not charging
My elderly mom has a 94 Mazda MPV. Alternator went out and purchased a new one that my husband installed. Once installed it was not charging so we took it to an alternator repair shop. He tested it and said it was working fine. The guy at the repair shop suggested to go through the wires and check their voltages which we did but still no luck. We noticed however that the battery light on the dash/instrument cluster this time around when installing the new alternator did not come on. Hmmm....... so we thought okay maybe that’s the culprit. We called the alternator shop and told him that the battery indicator light on the dash did not come on this time. His suggestion was that when the first alternator went out it could have blown that light therefore causing that circuit to stay open and because of that circuit being open would cause the alternator not to work/charge.
Soooooo my husband took out the instrument cluster checked the diode on the back of the panel but it’s good so we are now back to square one. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thank you in advance

Have you tried the PCV valve and if that is off, loose, or extremely soft from bad connection no air flow, not correct mix of all the good engine stuff Id be checking the coolant sensor and thermostat as well or could be more simple like a bad/dislodged ground wire from instalment or coming from a fuse or relay.
does your mum have a walking stick or zimmer frame.... whats it made out of? Where in the car is it stored? Could be stopping the connection from chip in key talking to cars computer... thats just a random thought as I work n aged care and Ive seen hip replacements and hearing aides stop remotes from working
