Default 2017 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring

Hi all, noob here, please be patient. 😊 I just bought my beautiful CX5 GT a couple days ago and after doing a ton of research, I knew ahead of time that Mazda paint has issues and is more apt to chip and scratch than other makes. I'm hoping someone can recommend the best protective coating to help prevent as much as possible. It's only has 60k miles and looks almost brand new and I'd like to keep it as nice as I can.
Any suggestions as what I should have used on it when I get it detailed next week? It only has maybe 2 very tiny chips.
Thanks everyone!
Dee

Welcome to the forum

That was a rumor started on member forums and was debunked having no real evidence. There was NEVER any real number supporting the claim > Mazda paint is just as durable as any other platform!
Easy fact to find out yourself you can purchase a simple paint depth measuring scanner and do your own testing.

About the only thing for any vehcle is the clear protective wrapping. This will prevent small impact chips and depending on the brand and how experenced the shop is that install it slightly large impact items. But how many chips you get is all dependent on the operating environment and the vehicles usual or frequent velocity (MPH) you drive.

  • This was info I read while researching the Mazda as one of my choices, it wasn't here on the forums. I'm not looking at the expense of PPF, just a really good hard wax. Maybe like Maguires Carnauba/Ceramic paste wax?
  • And thank you! ❤️

it’s not factual information. Consider the sources and who the authors were and also where the information was gathered.

There is NO product in the way of a top coating of any kind that can prevent impact chips in paint. This is going back to simple physics, and to be comical Neuton's first law .

Here again if you buy into the advertised kool aid well then you would be the majority.

Now those products you named are great for making your paint look great and do some protection from rain and snow. Not impact chips .

Thank you, I was getting ready to come out of pocket for the ceramic coating. Guess I won't bother with it, just keep a good wax on it. 😁
Now if I could make the navigation work, I'd be tickled pink! 🤬

Default Update

Took it back to the dealer, which wasn't Mazda and their tech guru hadn't a clue. Said either update or needs a new SD card. 🤷

Default Got it!

New SD card with the latest update from Amazon for $27 and it's worked perfectly! I even found stuff I didn't know it could do! 😲 So if you have an issue with your too, I'd suggest a new one. Beats hell out of $300-400 at the dealership! 🤬
Thanks y'all!
