Default 2012 Mazda5 New Owner

I have been a Honda guy for as long as I can remember. Drive em to over 250K with no issues. Anyway, in 2003 we bought a CR-V and, without going into massive details, I gotta say that even including some domestic cars I've owned, this thing was the biggest POS we've ever purchased. Finally, at the sign of more repairs needed at 125K miles, it was shown the door.

I always loved the Mazda5. Wife likes it too. We ended up with a "sport.' We don't need anything that came with the higher models. She had a sunroof on her V but never used it anyway.

My brother in law owns a 2006 and loves it. The only complaint he has is the lack of rear air vents, but of course, that was fixed shortly after he bought his.

I will be reviewing the owners manual for the maintenance but in the interim if you have any advice, by all means pass it along.

Congratulations on the new ride. Did you get it with the 6-Speed manual or
the 5-Speed automatic?

Hey Troy!! Welcome aboard and congrats to you and your wife on the new ride!!

DIDN'T WANT A SUNROOF?? REALLY??
I had an '89 Golf and the best thing about the car WAS the sunroof. The worse thing about the sunroof was that it wasn't a glass roof, but metal.
I gotta' tell you I am thin built and get cold VERY easily. I hate cold weather, but even I had the roof open in the winter time (when I still lived in Pa.) Even when the snow flew I'd put on a hat and open the roof!! It was great!! Wish I had one in my 3.

Anyway, personal choice I suppose. But you should start a garage to help you keep track of mods/maintenence, etc, and an album, and be sure to post some pictures in the threads as well.

Congratulations Troy, we also just bought a Mazda5 for my wife. This is our first Mazda ever.
I am looking for all weather mats now. A guy recommended me WeatherTech over Mazda's original ones, but I could only find the 1st row mats on their website. No 2nd or 3rd row and no cargo liner of any kind. What was your experience with mats, if any?
Thank you

I was going to get Weathertechs but most of the reviews on Amazon are not so good, mostly centered around customer service. I don't dare risk it. There is a protection package available for the 5 which includes all four splashguards and a set of all weather mats, all OEM, for around $200. I think that might be the way I go.

I just got the weathertech floor mats for the front and second row in the mazda3 and they got here in a few days after the order. Fit perfectly and no issue what so ever.

Now if only they would offer their wonderfully designed in-channel window visors for the 3.... I have written them and been asking them for years, but have gotten no reply.
I can't believe that with the popularity of the 3 series, they don't make them, or even offer an explaination for why they don't make them?
