Default 2007 Mazda CX-7

I have had a problem with my automatic gears where it would only start in 3rd and wouldn’t go into any other gear. So I have taken my transmission control unit out and have ordered a second hand one online. However I have been told that I need to have it reprogrammed? When googling I found that some forums are suggesting that this only needs doing if it is brand new? Can someone please advise. Also if I buy a ‘full system OBD2’ scanner will I be able to reprogram it if need be? Do I need a computer also to connect to the scanner? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Needs to go to a Mazda Dealer/service centre for programming to your vehicle.
