06 Mazda 6 Sunroof stuck open
HiSo, the sunroof on my 06 Mazda 6 wasn't working. After trying a few things I took the roof lining partly off, took the sunroof motor out (planning to maybe replace it) then realised there were two connectors (on the motor) unplugged from one another. I reattached them, hooked the power back up to the switch and the motor to the switch and vuala, the sunroof worked. The tilt worked and it opened up completely (rookie error) and once it was open I pressed the switch to close it and...nothing. No sound, no movement, nothing. I've tried running battery power directly to the various plugs, I've taken the A/C and "room" fuse out, waited, put them back to see if that reset anything, I've left it unplugged from power overnight but - nothing. There doesn't seem to be a manual closing option in this model either.
Does anyone know what I can do to get this sunroof shut? I don't need it to operate afterwards, I just need it to close and am wondering if there's anything I can do before having to go to an auto electrician in the hope that they can fix it?
Thanks in advance.

If your headliner is down and you"re unplugged and can get the motor off you should have a "female" gear on the sunroof assy. You'll need something that will bridge from one side to the other like a flat screwdriver would work and just twist it shut. It will be stiff particularly when you get to the point that the hatch tilts back level. Don't remember how big the gears are, you may be able to grind down a cheap putty knife and make a tool. Be sure you didn't knock any of the drain hoses(4) loose.
Good luck
