Default ticking sound

i was driving home last night and when i turned off my buddys street and slowly acceletated, i heard a slight ticking noise comming from the front of the car...engine/trans im not sure but i hear it when im starting to slowlygo forward. if i hold my foot on the brake and slightly touch the gas i can hear it, if im going uphill like into my drive way i can hear it. when its in park or neutral and i rev it slightly to mabye 1200rmp i heard it then too . its like a tick tick tick tick kinda noise. its very quiet tho, you really have to listen for it. i heard it once before going slowly uphill into a shopping center, but though nothing of it. now its got me worried. it doesnt happen all the time, this is the 3rd time i heard it since i owned the car(5 months) anyone else have this happen? should i take the car to mazda? im still covered with warrenty till 50K and im at 39,800. Any help would be gladly appreciated, thanks!

I have had that happen before. If the oil is not changed at 3000 miles, that ticking will come from the motor & go away when the oil is changed.

I have this also. There is a TSB for it. It's nothing to worry about though. There is a valve thats part of the EGR system that is making too much noise, the TSB adds insulation. Accoring to the TSB (I'll post the number later), the valve MFR changed (2003-2004 aren't supposed to have this problem)and the new one is just louder. So they move it, and pack it with insulation.

TSB: 01-049/06

what engine do you have? If it is the 4 banger I had it on mine before I traded it in, the tensioner for the belt has a TSB for it, just bring it to the dealer...
