Tick or knock this morning - Help.
So my 06 Mazda 6 was giving me troubles this morning.
Started up and was running fine. Passed a snow plow and seemed to be a bit hesitant and weak.
Shortly after I passed the plow the car seemed to be weak, and had a tick or knock coming from the engine. I pulled over and limped to my parents place which was a couple km away.
I didn’t get a chance to take a good look at the car before I had to go to work but the tick/knock had defiantly gotten loader since I first pulled over.
The sounds seemed to be relative to the engines RMPs and it doesn`t make a differance if I`m on gear or not.
After work I took a very quick look at it. Seemed the oil was a bit low, I've topped it up but it didn't seem to make a diferance.
The car has a 2.3l with about 93000 km on it. I thougth I'd also mension the oil or check egine light aren't on.
I’m wondering if anyone might have an idea of what it might be, and how I might go about fixing it. The car is currently sitting at my parents untill I can figure out what I should do.
Really any input would be helpful!

Check your oil first. Is your car's overall maintenance up to date?

does it only do it when your moving ?
Diesel or Petrol?
try and describe the noise a bit better if you can (e.g. is it a mettalic tick or a deeper clunk)?
Lift the bonnet (hood) up and listen at idle & rev it a little to see if it gets worse or if you can hear where its coming from?
really could be anything mate - so we need more info to help

Got a change to look at the car a bit more. The cams seem fine. and the lifters were all to factory spec.
Ends up it was something in the bottom end that went. Drained the oil and took at look at the filter and it had a ton of medal shavings in it.
Called up the dealer I got the car from and they are going to cover all the cost to fix the car, and are dropping off a car for me tomorrow. Which is a big release seeing how I've only owned the car for 3 months and put 5500 km on it.
Not sure what the own before must have done to the car. it only has 93000 km on it.
