Ha ha, ive also gone 108 in a Dodge durango(felt like i was going 40) and 120 in a volvo s40. Ran out of road for the volvo but the durango has a speed governor also.

yeah, my "X" was shaking real bad around 90-100mph, then she smoothed out again but roads in my area arent too long.... lots of bends. But I have never come close to rolling it or tipping it.

I posed this same question under General Tech titled "Removal of Top Speed Governors". From what I understand, it will void your warranty with any tampering with the computer. I've topped my out at 200kmh(125mph) and the governor kicks in and the speed drops to 160kmh(100mph). It's disappointing as there is so much more car.
One of my past cars was a newer BMW 3 series. It did not have a governor on it and I had the needle buried once, 240kmh+(150mph+) for an hour following a new Mustang Cobra. What a rush! Everything else after that seemed slow. 1400km(875mile) trip took just over 8 1/2 hrs with no tickets. Won't be doing that again anytime soon.

Thought they maybe only put a speed governor on US spec vehicles but looks like they have the same in Canada. I wonder if they have the same in Euro spec or other models? If someone is on from outside North American market will you let us know if you have any top speed restrictions built into your vehicle?? Might have to take above 120 mph or whatever kph that equates to but would be worth the test[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

Don't get too crazy on those stock Michilens I've had my old Miata at the rev-limiter in 5th gear around 135. My buddy in left me in his 300ZX doing well in excess of 150MPH. We opened them up on the interstate after work around 2:00AM. Slowing down to 70MPH afterwards felt like I was in a school zone. Last time I'll go that fast. Too much to lose these days.
