Default Short Ram Air Intake vs Cold Air Intake

Are there any differences in performance with a Short Ram Air Intake vs a CAI? I have heard that Short Ram helps with the lower RPMS. I am really noticing that the CAI is not making much of a difference unless I hit about 3,500 rpms. I rarely even go that high!

Rarely over 3500? Damn, I rarely shift below 5000, and even then only if I can't because of traffic.
If that is the case, then I honestly don't think you should spend you money on a CAI, or even an SRI, really.
Most bolt-ons take advantage of the upper RPMs.

A CAI is much better than an SRI, since after running the engine for a little while an SRI will produce little to no gains, or make performance worse than stock even, due to heat soak. When your engine gets hot the SRI will start sucking in hot air. A CAI will always suck in air of surrounding temperatures.

well.. I have a K+N air intake and 5w-20 AMS oil. I rarely shift any higher then 3,000 RPMS. I also kept my tires inflated at 32psi. When I am in a high traffic area I go up to 3,500 or 3,800 Rpms. But the car is running so smooth that it now accelerates much easier and efficently. I hope that helps.

Actually the difference is pretty huge - especially when it is hot and humid outside. Look at it this way. You know how on a nice cold, crisp morning your car feels like it wants to runs it's ***** off? That's what a CAI does for it most all of the time. Trust me. Don't waste your money on a short ram.
