Default Saying hello and showing off my 09 Mazda6

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and show off my new 09 Mazda6. This is my first Mazda and I love it. I came from a 07 VW GTI that I loved but wanted something larger and 4 doors. I love how this car drives and looks. I have the 6I GT. Here are a few pics, Let me know what everyone thinks. I'm glad to be a member of your forums!

Very cool...I like the new body. Seems like only yesterday I helped launch the old 6 here in the US. I worked on some of the planning stages of this project a few years ago. Great to see it in the market.

Very Cool!! And I like the new body better than the old one too.
As I've said before, if I were in the market.....
Congrats and Welcome, MF!! I have yet to see a new one in person, let alone drive oneso I'm looking forward to what you have to say about it. And keep them pictures coming too.

I still prefer the old generation...all the mid-size cars this generation are getting bigger: the Camry, Accord, Altima, 6, Malibu...I don't like it one bit. I'd prefer the mid-size market to stay MID-size. Leave full-size for the slushmobiles, imo.

I agree w/you, but also think the newer body style is cool looking!! A very good update in appearance imo.
I'm not a big fan of longer wheel based cars either, my friend. In fact I'd shorten the WB in my HB if I could. Quicker steering/handling. Worse for the ride though.
And the Accords have REALLY gotten to be a BIG car?? [&o]Kinda' removes it from the original intent. But then, Honda hasn't "Made Them Simple" in years now.

To give a comparison that might make it clearest:

2009 Mazda 6s:
18.5 gallon fuel tank (And I thought my 16.6 was big!)
Wheelbase: 109.8 inches(previous Mazda6 was 105.3 inches)
Overall length: 193.7 inches(previous Mazda6 was 186.8)
Weight: 3547 lbs. (I4 is 3258lbs., roughly the same wight as my old V6 Malibu-previous Mazda was 3320/3093lbs.)

The 2009 Accord(I4):
Wheelbase: 110.2 inches
Overall length: 194.1 inches
Weight: 3433lbs.(3600 for the V6)

The Malibu has a 112 inch wheelbase now, as well as a 191.8 overall length - my Malibu has a 106 inch wheelbase and a 188 inch overall length...it doesn't sound like much less compared to the new Malibu, but just look at the figures for the Mazda6 and the Accord. Mid-size cars ARE getting bigger, you'll find numbers like that across the board for all new ones.

MotorWeek called the new Accord full-sized when they reviewed it.
It seems to be what the average buyer wants, and they are in business to sell cars after all. Who can blame them for going w/the trend.
Anybody check out the new Hyundai Genesis?I haven't yet, but the commercials are making me curious about it???

MotorTrend was saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Personally, I'm not interested...I'll never buy a Korean car.

And you and I both know that we're not "average buyers" - average people buy cars because they like just how they look. [8D]
