Default rpm

Looked at a Mazda6, 2010 4 cylinder.
When driving at 60 mph the rpm stayed in the 3000 range.
I am use to a 6cyy which would be in the 2000 rpm range. I tried a Camary 4 cyl and it seem to stay ne the 2000 range.

Seems like running the engine at 3000 rpm all the time would shorten it's life.

Question: Do the Mazda 6cyl run around 3000 rpm
Is this similar to most 4 cylinders or unusual.

A bit unusual, Bill, but normal for the Mazda.
I'll bet the Toyota was a very boring drive. Its a trade-off for a more interesting driving experience.
Were they both automatics?

Both automatics. I didn't like the camry, is was too good. No feel or noise which I always wanted in the past, but I guess it is too serene.
