Default Anyone know correct idle rpm 05 Mazda 6

Does anyone know the correct idle rpm on an 05 "6". ..Also is it suppose to fluctuate. At a stop in drive it goes from the line before 10,000 and then drops down between that line and the one below it. When it stays at the line below 10,000 it runs quiet but when it drops down between the two i get a vibration rattle . Anyone else have this and know how to rectify it

Thanks in advance

I REALLY hope you mean 1,000 RPM The tach only goes up to 8000RPM FWIW, mine seems to idle between 800 and 1000 RPM depending on if it's warm or not.

Considering mine's an MTX, it doesn't care whether I'm in gear or neutral It just seems to depend on engine temp as far as I can tell. But I have only had the car since Saturday

The fan for the Mazda6 kicks on/off. you can experience a slight drop in RPM when the fan kicks on due to the higher amperage draw on the electrical system. That part is normal. There shouldn't be any different noise when the fan kicks on (other than the fan of course).

Let it idle with the hood up and see if you can pin point the area the noise is coming from.

Base idel speed should be around 700-750 for both I4 and V6. If rpm is fluctuating that much then there may be a malfuction with throttle control system. Should set a code though as it is pretty sensitive to discrepencies in pedal position and throttle opening angle.

I'll have to get that looked at... would that be a result of the car not being completely warmed up to operating temperature?

Yeah, one of my friends has an 04 6s and he had to take his car back to the dealer 4 times to have the throttle body replaced. His RPMs were fluctuating severely though. When I am in drive, and am stopped, my car idles kind of low. Between 400-450. If I am in park, it's at 500. Maybe I should have that adjusted...

i really don't think those are safe idle speeds haha. yeah, you might want to have that checked out because those idle speeds may cause your vehicle to stall and I don't think you want to have that happen on any road, let alone a major highway.

Mine's a stick shift , and the rpm is at the next line below the 1000 marker when completely warmed up and of idle choke .
Was wondering what rpm that next line is ? I figured 800 or so .

By the way , graymazda6 , very important to warm up that engine in the first few 1000's NEW miles before taking off .
