replacement turbo vs upgrade turbo
Hello fellow mazdaspeed 6 owners,
I am looking to replace my stock turbo because of the defect found on the factory turbo. I have heard that the seals will go along with oil inside the turbo also. I wanted to know if I should just get a replacement turbo or is it really worth buying a upgraded turbo? I don't have a lot of mods just a turbo back exhaust, Hyper tech chip, top mount intercooler, and a HKS BOV. I have done my research on trying to find out what is worth my money to buy a upgrade or just get a brand new OEM KO4 turbo and call it a day. I thank you all for reading and helping me out with this issue.

Upgrade turbos will definitely be harder on your engine and transmission.

The second item is a K04. Please read "Frequently asked questions" under either of the items as they are the same and discuss generalities to why oil is being used, so you maybe can figure out something that Mazda missed. It won't let me copy & paste. http://www.turbo-kits.com/turbo_kits_faqs.html scroll to bottom, very good points---1 is adequate crankcase ventilation which tells me you should your PCV valve often.

Trying to listen to it with engine running isn't the way to check it! This is not a simple check! The intercooler is like a rad, many connections.
A boost gauge, not sure where it's reading from. It was running around 5psi when I got it two weeks ago now it's down to three and won't hold pressure.
