Default removing radio faceplate

hey, I was wondering if it is possible to remove the faceplate from the radio, climate controls, and all that stuff. I want to design something on it instead of the silver color, but I need to take away all of the buttons and stuff. Basically, I want to repaint the faceplate of the center console to another color instead of silver. Is this possible? Thanks a lot

Default RE: removing radio faceplate

I can't remember if we sonically welded the faceplate or it's fasteners....Start at the cupholder and work your way up to the radio to get at all of the fasteners to remove the radio. Once you pull it out of the dash you can look at the backside of the panel.

Cupholder pulls straight up, there are (2) long tabs that lock the cupholder panel to the ashtray panel (they have a little inner nub that needs to be pushed toward the rear of the car to disengage.)

Once the cupholder is out, pull the ashtray panel (unscrew **** & tranny in "R" works best), pull up the rear edge of the ashtray panel then pull rearward away from the dash. you need to disconnect a couple of harnesses that go into the PRNDL bezel (light bulbs) & the lighter socket harness @ the front of the ashtray panel.

Once ashtray is out, you should see a couple of phillips head screws along the bottom edge of the radio, pull those screws and the radio should pop out starting at the bottom.
