Default Radio interference (Mk2 2008 GH 2.0 Diesel Sport)

Hope someone can help - my standard radio works fine, but if I plug my phone charger into the 12v socket next to the ash tray or the one in the centre storage container under the armrest, it crackles and gets interference - it also does it when the rear window wiper is moving - has anyone experienced this and found a way to stop it happening?

Generally, that sounds like it may be a grounding issue with the 12volt receptacle . Try a continuity test lead with alligator clips on both end and manual ground the outer case to see if it clears up the inference .

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to clarify - do you mean the outer case of the stereo head unit, as it seems like that is the common issue, as I can't imagine both receptacles and the rear wiper are badly grounded?

The 12 volt power supplies have a common ground
