Problem With Power Window
My warranty has expired on my 2005 Mazda 6, so I didn't want to get my window fixed until I got some feedback on this forum. I have a very unusual problem with my driver side window. One day, the window simply did not work. I could control all the other windows from the driver's side except for my own. A couple of months later, I randomly pushed the button one day and the window worked fine for about a week. Then, it stopped working again. Several months went by (during which I'd often test the window, with no luck), then it began working again. It worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped working. It has not worked since.
I had one of the electrical engineers at my work remove the power window controller box, but he couldn't find any problems with it, but said he didn't have enough expertise to speculate as to the problem.
I'm afraid if I bring it to the dealer they will simply replace all the parts (motor + electrical) to make it operational and leave me with a big bill to pay. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what this problem with my window may be??
Thanks,
Aaron

Check all of the terminal connections at the door switch. give a little tug on each wire to make sure it's securely in place, and also look inside of the terminals to make sure there aren't any bent/damaged pins. Those can cause intermittent function. It's also possible you have a intermittent connection at the driver's door motor. Check it the same way as above.
Hi Aaron, the issue which you are facing with the power window is exactly what i faced with my 6,i had the dealercheck it, and guess what the motor had burnt out. Its just a matter or replacing the motor.
Take care and God bless.

You can check if the motor is getting power, get a small 12V light (even a headlight would work) and attach wires - or have someone hold them on the motor connections. Press the switch both ways and both should light the light... If only one way lights it up it's a bad switch contact, if both ways light the light it's a motor problem.
