Petrol vs Diesel
Hi,
i am about to buy a Mazda 6. I have about £11k to spend. I travel around the M25 and in London approx 16k miles per year. Currently have a Jag x type 2.0 diesel and the injectors and turbo have failed. Not worth the repair so have heart set on a Mazda 6 sport.
was only looking at diesels due to fairly high mileage I do but......I’ve been driving my wife’s Mazda 2 which is an auto and a petrol engine and the fuel consumption has been pretty decent. I recognise it’s a small car and that makes a difference.
Id love to return to petrol engines again I much prefer them but have had diesels for past 7 years due to economy.
so my question is this........Mazda 6 sport petrol vs diesel.
what are the running cost comparisons and in particular how much more will the lower mpg of a petrol hit me over 16000 miles per year?????
appreciate all contributions Thankyou in advance

Based on £11,000, you would be looking at a GJ or GL Mazda 6.
Fuel economy isn't much better in the diesel vs petrol. Also Mazda has had reliability issues with their 2.2 diesel engines. Safe bet is the petrol.
