2004 mazda 6 makes loud grinding noise when I turn. Any suggestions before I take to shop?

 

is it a WHINEY type grind? if your in park with it running does it make the noise when you turn the wheel? could be the power steering pump low on fluid,leaking.if you have to be moving to make the noise,AND have to put on brake,could be brakes. or wheel bearing

 

Loud grinding noises.... Hmmm?
Sounds like it COULD BE an axle shaft. But it might also be a bad steering pump.
Have you checked the level of the fluid lately?
Do you have larger aftermarket wheels/tires on the car that could be rubbing?

Just a few things to look for. I'm sure there are others.

 

in 2009 Mazda i nearly had this steering problem but local dealer suggest to change power steering oil every 60.000 KM i ve dune and its solved thats it
