i've actually had to problems with mud spots on the engine. but of course i wash my engine bay once a month, but even so... i don't get mud spots up there. are you going through big muddy puddles or taking your car in mud pits?

I thought the car had engine covers that are supposed to protect the engine and stuff from dirt spots?

air flow from driving gets up there, so when you run through dust/dirt, it will blow up in there and settle... then when it gets wet, it forms there. in the next week or so, i'm going to be getting an underbody sealant that prevents rust to protect my car for 10 years (before rust may start to occur on my vehicle).

the place is called Ziebart and for the underbody and lower door insides, it will run about 189 bucks which isn't too steep at all. i think it is a wise investment. for a car that is within one year of being manufactured, you will get a full 10 year warranty that provides no rust, and if so, the company will remove the rust and re-apply the sealant.
