New tires
I agree the Michelins are WAY overrated....I've never really cared for Michelins, and while quiet, they don't seem to have the grip of my half as expensive Toyo's, which for me are quiet enough.
Interesting comments about the bridgestones, we thought they were bad in the wet and cold too, even Pirelli P6000 were an improvement.
Continetal Premium Contact 2 are excellent and even do well in the snow for a summer tyre. Don't know if you can get Falken tyres in your area, but they are getting really good reviews and are not expensive as they are not well known. I know an M3 owner who loves them.

I have Avon Tech Mech 550s and they handle awesome, the only thing about them is when it gets cold they get a hardspot and it takes a mile or so for it to smooth out...I looked into it and these tires are known for that...They use a different material for the sidewall supposedly...They are wearing about right, I am an extremely aggressive driver, I take advantage of the M6's amazing handling on on and off ramps !

http://www.tires-easy.com has is a cheap place to get tires from what I am told. I am going to get the General Exclaim UHP (summer tires) once I decide to get my fenders rolled. They are rated atop their category for summer tires, but they are about $105 a piece. However, you do get what you pay for with tires.
edit: tirerack is the cheapest place so far that I have found tires.

Everyone's got an opinion, and I am not exception.

I run Falken ZE-512's (all-season) and am basically happy w/them as an all around tire. They weren't that expensive ($87 ea. out the door) and I expect to get around 30K out of them, 10K more than the OEM Bad*Craps (Good*Year's) that came on it that cost between $160 and $293 a piece!!! I do drive "spiritedly," however. It's because of this difference in cost that I have a hard time with the "you get what you pay for" philosophy.
I know many that have bought the Kumhos too and are satisfied.
Some are happy w/the BFG's, others the Contirental's.
For me I think the BFG's compound is a little hard for these cars, and the Conti's sidewall too soft.
Just my .02
I got mine off Tirerack.com Avon M550 A/S they've been excellent so far, very good in rain and quality grip, but the tread life worries me some. They seem to be wearing pretty quick and I haven't even been peeling out all that much lately. Thankfully they were only $400.
