MAZDASPEED6 ECU
Does anyone know if there are ne chips out there for the speed6. Already have a boost reg in it, along with a blowoff valve, just gettin started with mods, but i can only push it to 20lbs of boost safely without a chip. Lemme know what you guys got.
Thanks...

I hope you're not putting out 20 psi with the stock turbo, it's no good past 17 max. I wouldn't push it past the stock 15. I believe cpe is working on a tuner they are close to finishing, but I don't know if anybody has a tuner yet. I assume you're referring to something like hypertech or superchips that you plug in to the obd II port?

RE: MAZDASPEED6 ECU
the speed uses a rather small turbo, so once you get in the 17psi range you start to overload it. this turbo is typically used on 1.8L vw's. you can look up the graphs if you want, it's called a "K04" though the exact variant isn't known. sorry to burst your bubble.

Once you're over 17PSI, you're just pumping EXTREMELY hot air into the engine, raising the chances of detonation and actually probably lowering power. The comp would probably cut fuel cause the air is too hot.

RE: MAZDASPEED6 ECU
if you setup a mbc to hold boost at say 15/16psi, you will still feel a "huge" gain in most cases. most "tuners" tend to drive their car close to redling when have fun before shifting. in the speed, your last 1700rpm....sucks. using a boost controller to hold boost all the way to redline will keep that feeling at least a bit longer into redline, so the car feels as many do...peaking pretty high up, not in the middle of the band.
at 17 you can still experience fuel cut as it borders the MAF's high point, so you might wanna stick to 16psi if you don't want that feeling from time to time.
