the guy said Mazda needed help. Mazda doesnt need any help. The Mazda dealership here in toledo is selling Mazda 6 like hotcakes. Plus, many of the Ford Models are based of the Mazda platform. This guy is on crack. The only thing he was right about was the engine did lack power.

i agree with you too, mazdaguy.

but was the 6 really lacking that much in interior space that they had to make it longer/wider?

I think when he said "Mazda needs help", he is referring to the lackluster sales that the Mazda6 is experiencing right now. All auto companies need strong sales in all of their product lines to be successful.

The Mazda6 is small in its segment (down on the competition for interior space/size currently). Whereas the Mazda3 is large in it's segment. As far as feel, the Mazda6 doesn't feel significantly larger than the 6. The Fusion/Milan/Zephyr family of vehicles are loosely based on the Mazda6 platform and are longer/wider than the current 6. That test mule could even be one of the Fusion/Milan/Zephyr mules build during those vehicles development cycles (I know we built quite a few of them like that)
