Mazda 6 will not unlock with key and so not have a fob

Mazda 6 will not unlock with key and so not have a fob
I am unable to unlock my car and am forced to keep it unlocked at this time and I do not have a key fob just a key. I had to have a locksmith get into it about a week ago. Any ideas what this could be?
