Default Mazda 6 keyfobs not working

(please note that I have searched a lot in these forums and not found an answer to my question)

Hi everyone, first post from me in this forum but I have been "lurking" without registering for a long time!

I have recently come up against a problem which I just cant seem to solve! My kids has a tendency to leave the backseat light on when leaving the car, and this time we did not use it for 2 days which ended up with the battery dying on me. Since the battery died, none of the remotes are working anymore

We have a 2008 Mazda 6 wagon, it has low mileage, has both the original remote keyfobs and has been services more or less at the dealers since it was bought.

I have searched this forum, and internet as well, and I cannot make this "programming" sequence work which is described in a few places. There are a few suggested sequences, one which involves clicking the lock button on the inside of the door which I cant since there is no such button on my car. Is there anyone who can help me confirm the following ?

1. Is there a fuse that controls the remote keys ? (the central lock works fine!)
2. Can someone please confirm the exact reprogramming sequence that I should use ?
3. Is there any beginners mistake that I should be wary of when trying to program the keys ?

Both the remotes work, the light comes on when clicking the buttons.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

I have GH in my chassis number

When I try to view the pictures you have attached, the text is too small for me to read and I cant "zoom in" without the resolution going bad/blurry. Do you have the picture stored with better resolution/size somewhere ? Or am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I agree, the pic is too small. Need more pixels.

Re-written/typed for your pleasure.

1: Remove the key from the ignition
2: Close all doors, boot, trunk, bonnet, hood, Tailgate.
3: Open the drivers door
4: Insert the key into the ignition.

REPEAT THE FOLLOW THREE TIMES ( Steps 4,5 & 6 Must be done within 24 seconds )

5: Turn the ignition key to the ON position, then turn back to OFF/LOCK position
** note ** do not remove the key.

6: Close & open the drivers door 3 times ( finishing with the door open )

** Verify that the door lock actuators lock, then unlock (by themselves)**

Yes - continue. No - try again.

7A: If you have only 1 remote, push any button twice.
7B: If you have 2 or 3 remotes, push any button on any remote twice.

** Verify that the door lock actuators lock, then unlock (by themselves)**

3: for the 2nd & third remote repeate step 7B.

** Verify that the door lock actuators lock, then unlock (by themselves)**

Remove the ignition key, count the number of door actuator cycles, this tells you how many remotes are coded to your car.

Close the door. Test each remote.

Thanks for taking the time to write that down! I appreciate it!

I cannot even get past step 6. Nothing happens after I close/open the door 3 times. There is no recognition, or anything happening at all I have previously reprogrammed my mazda 3 keys, so I am somewhat aware of how to do these things, but its like the car is not responding when I try.

I walk up to the car
I make sure all doors are closed
I unlock the car, manually
I sit in the car
I close the door
I open the driver door
I put the key in the ignition
I turn the key to on and back to off x3
I leave the key in off
I open and close the door x3
I leave the door open
-Nothing happens-

The fobs has new batteries, the lamp on them blinks when pushing a button.

This all started when the battery had died once. At that time, I unlocked the car with the fob (yes, it was still working then), sat down in the car and tried to start it, which didnt work. So, jumpstarted the car with cables using our second car and since then the fobs are not working

Any ideas ? Since the central lock is working, I assume this cannot be regarding any fuse right ? The chassie has GH in the number, I asssume the sequence above was for that model ?

Appreciate all help I can get!
