Default Mazda 6 info, looking to buy.

Hi All. We are looking at a 2004 Mazda 6 Sport, V-6, nice car, Bose, lots of stuff only no sunroof. For my daughter. It has 39,000 miles and is a clean lease return vehicle. We can get it for $12,000. Good Deal? Also, what kind of mileage do you get? Any problem areas? I'm not a Mazda virgin, we have a 97 Miata we love. I also have a74 Triumph TR-6 and a ^& Mustang Coupe. Thanks,Perry

Yeah, that does sound like a pretty good deal. With the V6, you should get around 20-22 mpg in the city and about 27-28 on the highway. You will love the car. My family has two 6's and a 2006 Miata. You will not regret it if you buy the 6!

Would you be buying the car from a dealer or private party? Also, check www.kbb.com to find out what it's worth depending on the options.

We're buying from an independent dealer, not a brand garage, We've bought 3 other cars from him and his cars are typically very good. Hope our daughter will love it. Better than her 95 Accoed with 180,000 and a hole in the muffler.

Just had to reply to this. We have a 2003 Mazda6s. Every option available. We even had home link installed at dealer. The car has 39,900 miles. It is my wife's car. Nice ride. Very quiet. Very smooth 6cyl. motor.Comfortable. Gas mileage: POOR. We set our cruise at 65mph going to North Dakota and back. Best mileage was 25.4. This car has a 5-speed automatic. That 5th speed needs to be taller. This car should get 30mpg. We get around 20-21 for our combined driving. About 60%-70% highway miles. We are going to sell this car next spring. If we are going to drive a small/midsize car, we expect OVER 30mpg. Too bad we get such poor mileage. I know that mileage is not the best reason to get rid of a car but it irritates me that Mazda wouldn't allow that 5th gear to be high enough to get at least 30mpg.

That is why the 2005 and later models have a 6 speed automatic transmission.

I have an '06 Mazda 6S and I do wish that the fuel economy was better. But after doing a side-by-side comarison between the Mazda and its competition (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/), it seems that while the economy is not greatest, it is certanly not the worst and compares well to similar vehicles. The one thing that puzzled me is that the V6 Ford Fusion/Mercury Millan had slightly better milage than the Mazda and they share the same engine! Maybe it's the transmissions.

I don't know what planet you are on but there are a lot of mid-size V-6cars that get 30mpg.
i.e.:
Buick LaCrosse 30mpg
BMW 525i30mpg
BMW 530i 30mpg
Chevrolet Monte Carlo 31mpg
Chrysler Sebring 30mpg
Honda Accord 30mpg
Kia Optima 30-34mpg
Lexus ES350 30mpg
Pontiac Grand Prix 30mpg
Saturn Aura 30mpg
Toyota Camry 31mpg

I had an Oldsmobile 88 that got 30mpg

The gas mileage on the Mazda6 stinks
I WILL BE SELLING THE CAR NEXT SPRING!!!!
