Default Mass airflow sensor P0101/Resetting KAM

What is the proper way to clear the KAM on a 2012 Mazda 6?

Had my car in for a different repair, check engine light was on. Mechanic said it was code P0101, mass airflow sensor. He tried cleaning it and cleared the code, but the light came on a later that day. I replaced the sensor myself, cleared the check engine and code, and check engine came on again the next day. Mechanic buddy said I also needed to clear the KAM, so I have tried a variety of methods to reset the KAM including pulling the ROOM fuse and disconnecting the negative battery cable for a couple of hours. But check engine keeps coming back on with the P0101 code.

Maybe there's some "do the hokey pokey" procedure I need to do that I din't know about, or maybe it's something else causing the MAS to throw a code? I'd like to try everything before taking it back to the mechanic to avoid spending more money. Thanks!

I tried the 1) Turn the key to on 2) Depress the brake pedal rapidly 20 times in a row, but I continue to see the P0101 code and check engine light after a few starts.
