Lowest Air Con Temp
Hi,
I'm sure I've seen my Mazda 6 go below 15degrees C before......I might be imagining it but it only goes that low now. I had a major service today and they re-gassed and said everything was fine...still 15 degrees.
Any ideas?

Well, 15C is about 59F. Down into the 50's is usually all I go for. I've had output temperatures at the dash down as low as 42F, but that was a fresh charge on an old Chrysler system with R-12. R-134 isn't as efficient. The temperature of the air outside affects what the system will put out. Are you using the recirculate function? That will make a MAJOR difference. On regular settings, your system is pulling outside air in, cooling it and blowing into the cabin. If you go to recirculate, usually marked by an arrow going in a circle, you are only pulling 20% fresh air in and the system is cooling already cooled air. On some systems, this is called MAX. One caveat on using the recirculate function, in rainy or foggy weather, it can cause the windows to fog up inside.

I still have about 12-14 1lb cans of R12 for someone building a concours classic vehicle. But for the most part even the universal AC kits are now specifically designed for R134.
You should be using the recirculation setting which outside air does not affect the temperature. The only drawback is how well the vehicle itself is insulated. The radiated heat from sitting in the sun on surface area and air takes time to cool down before you really start to feel comfortable completely. Tinting windows helps a windshield cover as well while parked.
Not sure where you got your figures on recirculated air on a MAZDA? Model from about 2004 and newer do not pull outside air by 20% or I am pretty sure anything. Here is a simple test to prove. On the air vent passenger side of your MAZDA turn the AC on and if manual setting set to recirculation. On new Madels it will automatically go to recirculation. Spray a all-natural or automotive specific vent deodorized across the cover. Then go smell. You may notice NO SMELL. Than turn AC off and set to recirculate.... whoa... nice fresh smell coming through the vents LOL
Thanks for the replies but let me clarify. What I'm saying is that the A/C temperature display can not be reduced from 15oC. I am sure it used to go lower or say "Lo"...but now it does now. Can the **** be turned to lower the display temp past 15C as standard on the M6?
