Just bought a 2006 Mazda 6, needs timing belt.

New car!
Hey guys I'm a newbie to the world of Japanese cars, I just bought a 2006 Mazda 6 2.3l for 500 bucks and it needs a timing belt, is this something that's easy to do on your own?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the 2.3 liter engine in your car has a timing belt; it should have a timing chain. What makes you think it needs a belt?

Sorry my bad, you are correct. But still wondering how difficult it'd be?

Unless you have the special tools to lock the camshaft & crankshaft, DO NOT try to undo anything.

Timing chain removal requires a full strip down of the front of the engine.
