Howto disassemble to get access to stereo
Hi,
Anyone here that has good insight in the Mazda 6 2.0 -03 model and factory stereo? Cuz i want to open up the panels so that i can check if the stereo has AUX connection in the back to connect my iPhone to the stereo.
So if anyone here has pics or a guide how to disassemble the stereo i would be grateful, so that i don't destroy the panels or any plastic.

I think, but i'm not 100% sure, you'll need to start off by taking out the central console, (the bit between the seats) - then if my memory serves me correctly, from reading around, there is a screw inside the glove compartment... undo that and errr.... that's all i got.
Please post how you get on, as i will be removing my stereo and all sorts to sell for parts soon. and would like to know how to do it all...
and... what AHan said is true i think - you'll need to buy a special adapter, specifically for the BOSE stereo as well, i think. I'm not speaking from experience, just what i've read.
Hope that helps

Remove the trim around the parking brake lever. It pretty much pulls straight up - it just uses tabs that stick into the black of the console, and then a couple of tension clips into the shifter surround. I found something that works great along the part of the trim closest to the storage bin is a putty knife with a strip of masking tape around it's edge to protect from scratches.
Then the shifter surround and ashtray. Same thing - just locating tabs and tension clips.
You will then see a couple of screws behind where the ashtray was.
Don't recall having to do anything in the glove box unless you mounting something behind the stereo, like when I added the factory iPod adapter.
There is no generic aux input. There is an input, but it's not a generic plug-in - it's a specific plug shape that Mazda designed. It can be used to plug-in the factory iPod adapter or the factory satellite radio unit (but not both)
If you want a phone input source to be used as a phone through the stereo, good luck. If you want to play your iPhone for music, you'd need an iPod adapter. There is Mazda, and there is a couple of others through places like Crutchfield. Don't know if the non-Mazda units use an antenna input though.....
