Default Help w. my 88 626 2.2 timing

My 88 626 2.2 toasted ( because of leaky heater hose ) and I pulled the head to have it redone. They said they had to bake it to reform it, than do cam, shave and valve jobs. They told me to pull the cam sproket off and reset it to #3 ( retarded because of the changed tolerences ) up to the pointer with the key/pin up at 12 oclock as well. I tried that and it runs funky ( whats the trick to lining the marks up , it doesnt seem to want to go perfect wit the belt/marks lineup). Anyway I tryed # 3 starts right up and runs but has no power and back fires when I step on the throtel. On the cam lineup as well I tryed #2 and back to #1 still runs funky, Help![:@] mrmaintain@hotmail.com
