Help! 2010 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel oil pump
Hi,
I have a 2010 mazda 6 sport 2.2 diesel, its done around 135k miles. I had it for around 8months and last month the oil pressure light came on and so I took it to a garage, at first they said it could be the pressure switch which they changed... a couple of weeks later the light came on again and so I took it back to the same garage, this time they said the pressure release valve was sticking so they sorted it and cleaned the sump and strainer whilst they were already out. Fast forward to present day, the light came on again and this time I rang round different garages and they said that it could be the oil pump that needs doing which will cost at least a grand. My question is, can the oil pump be replaced in situ? I have spent hours online to see if there's is a "how to" on changing the oil pump but all of the results I've found are for the newer skyactive models. My in law is a mechanic of almost 40 years although for fire engines, he has worked on other people's cars and his own so he does know cars and he has told me that we can do the work on it to save some money. However he hasn't worked on a mazda before and he comes up with the same results I have when looking online. any help would be much appreappreciated.
Thanks!
