Default HELP!!

Hey, I really need some help!

I have a 04 Mazda 6 2.3 manual. It was running fine, then one bad rainy day I took it out and drove over a some water on the road. Since then ive been loosing power and the engine hesitates to accelerate only when in gear! When in neutral I can rev the engine without problems, but when left to idle it will go slow and cut out after a while. (Man, do I regret going out that day!!!)

The main problem is when I take off in the car. The engine doesn’t seem to accelerate and the revs are normally stuck in 2 o 3 then the car starts to loose power and nearly cut out. When I push the clutch in, it makes no difference and I cant still rev up like the clutch doesn’t exist. Then all of a sudden it picks up again like the clutch got engaged or something. This also happens in second and third.

Any ideas what it could be?

Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

I really dont know what to tell you man , but if i had to take a shot in the dark ... here's my best answer

when you drive through the puddle, you got some water on the idle air motor , or something got snagged on the cable driven throttle body ... other wise than that ... i would really just tell you to take it to the dealr ....

To Jokerschild584, the Mazda6 has an electronic throttle body, no cables. To original poster, what modifications do you have done to the car? Do you have a cold air intake by chance?

Cold air intake is a good guess! First thing I would check is the air filter (whether your car has a cold air intake or is stock). It's doubtful that water could get that far into the intake, but I have seen some crazy things stuck inside of air filters before... like a 1.5 inch roofing nail! If a nail can make it to the air filter, then surely a cup or two of water could make it.
