I have a Mazda 6 1.8l from 2005 and gasoline prices are painful right now, 2.60€/l for 95E10 which is almost 10 dollars a gallon.
E85 stations are around though and that price is more like 7 dollars a gallon. Given the extreme costs of fuel we're looking at an E85 conversion to try and save on fuel costs, you can also get part of the money back from the state right now if you do this. A finnish company is selling kits that is almost plug and play for 250 euros. I am wondering if anyone else has done this or something similar?
This kit goes between the ECM and injectors I believe and tunes the parameters to work based on what kind of fuel, so it can run on regular gasoline or E85.
E85 means 20-30% higher consumption but with the price differences that's still between 1-1.50 dollars per gallon saved. If anyone has done this to their car, particularly an older model like mine, I'd be interested in hearing the experiences, how much did fuel consumption increase?
