getting into a 2nd gen trunk manually
The 2012 doesnt have a mechanical trunk release that is readily available but you can crawl into the trunk and manually pop it. Behind the left passenger headrest is a panel that exposes the car seat anchor, there is a hole next to it and if you put your finger about 3" down in that hole and feel toward the seat back youll feel a latch, just push it forward and the smaller passenger seat will release. The driver side is harder: you put arm into open passenger side and feel for a spring under the package tray right behind the inner headrest pole of the driver side. just push the spring latch end toward the driver side and the larger driver seat will release. The 2 pull handles to release the seats are located in the trunk and once you see where the driver side cable pulls up under the tray youll see the little spring that is at end of cable. once both seats are folded you can crawl into trunk and release the latch with the 'glow in the dark' yellow release tab. word to wise: learn the passenger side trick so you can get to your jumper cables that you store behind the passenger side seat.....:-)
