Don't you wish your Mazda 6 went like this
um my 1968 Camaro , will that count?
That video looks like COMP division which has waaaaaay too many classes and its IMHO hard to fairly compete because of attendance and track location?
Although I did retire from professional Drag racing in 1995 I ran NHRA since the 70's with various cars. The last I ran S/G (Super Gas) in the 9.90 division/ I also ran Outlaw Gas altered and a few other classes. but over the last few years sponsors got tight on support and my personal season intestate was climbing each year. After I sold both my machine shops (engine performance and fabrication machine shops) it became an expensive hobby unsustainable.
Now I just hang out on forums.... rolmao... kidding
Sorry I cant show pictures because then it would be easy to know who I am... and then what fun is that?

I don't know what class it runs in. They are local boy's and have been building race cars for a long time now. Real achievers in my books.
I got involved in drag racing back in the mid 70's. A local machinist got involved with engines after his brother moved to the states and they setup a import business. I hung around after work just for fun and ended up doing all the engine building and a lot of car mods for them Mainly Chevy but a few Crysler Hemi's. It was lots of fun and for a part time job paid exceptionally well. They imported a funny car and when it arrived the deal went sour so we ran the car (unsucessfully) with a 426 hemi using big does of Niromethane. Had more disasters than runs. Actually had the opertunity to attend a dinner with Big Daddy when he came out here then the business folded and my involvement ended so all the contacts I had made are now very old or no longer here. Was great fun and a learning curve not many get the opportunity to get involved with.
Hoping theres more out there wanting to tell their story.

Funny thing…. I started drag racing officially in 1976. I knew and know ….one well known drag racing pilot/driver you mentioned .
In a 1965 Oldsmobile F85 Station Wagon with a 330 and clicking off 12’s in the 1/4 mile . Remember that was in mid 1970s
oh and it was for all intense purposes a street car.
I also acquired the nickname around tracks as Nitro and it was directly with my usage of nitromethane. And the name stuck with me to this day .
My Performance parts /machine shop was also historically very well known in fact it’s on the internet.
I can at least say that my second wife was taught how to drag race by the Lady herself Sheryl Muldowney that was in our group of racers like and only to name a few Don Prodhomme and Tom McEwen , *John Force (a *personal friend as well For some events I was on the SS team with him) and yup Don Garlits.
My history also goes farther with my very good friend now passed Pete Jackson.
Don’t get me started with historical performance parts suppliers . You would be surprised who I know and a few are still cataloging my items .
I never really pay to much attention to anyone tossing around the word Hemi or big block anything having to do with performance unless I know them well enough. It’s like everyone always stated that magic horsepower that street cars owners think they have 500hp. lol Having owned dozens and built as many or more for performance belts equally as many , mostly for squirt boats or Hyro’s , they are expensive to run and expensive to build . But I have personally had them in
every state of build from stock in my GTX to fully blown injected alcohol and naturally nitromethane in the Altered. I came to better like small blocks the under dogs of the performance engines. , I developed the reputation of having street and track built cars running small blocks that I called my big block eaters , that is to say the base block starting out as the small block. Let me just say I pushed a bit farther then the once popular 391 sm bk Chevy
There are very few on a Mazda forum or any Mazda forum that has the backgrounds that you and I have. I never really got into Mazdas but for a short period owned a factory hand ported RX2 . It was an a,zing car. I could wind the engine all day long to 12 k and the clutches would fracture into sawdust. Lol
Thanks to my now long time diseased friend that owned Rotary Research in the late 70’s to 1980’s before he passed.
what’s really funny is no one on this forum has ever mentioned my signature, not even you.

The snake. Yea big name in drag racing. As a mater of fact I have constantly searched for a model of his funny car the Plymouth Arrow but there impossible to find. Reason I have one. Not like his but a Japanese make called a Chrysler Lancer 2 door coup. I did serious mods to almost the entire car running a Starion 4G63 with 18lb boost and only 1000kg makes it almost uncontrollable when you hit the throttle. Just love driving it but it spends almost the entire year in the shed. The Mitsubishi EVO is my goto toy but it's track only and has been out of action since I put a fuel cell in and haven't finished of a rear firewall. Never played with Nitrous but believe it's powerfull but expensive using a bottle in a few runs. Have friends that use it one has a Corolla with a 4AGE running big boost and nitros and it last produced 450RWP. I keep telling him it's gunna explode one day. His cousin has an EVO street car producing over 1000hp aiming at achieving a record for a street car but theres lots out there and the Nissans (excluding some v8's) are hard to beat. They do roll racing which has started to become quiet popular with the streeters.
Yor signature is somthing to do with a mythical woman I think. I'll google it.

There you go with whole numbers …lol looses some credibility with me when taking power numbers.
I owned and operated three Dynos , chassis, portable and engine. Personally performed well over 1000 Dyno runs for my cars, engines ,customers and various vehicle shows and events . Not put engine or vehicle ever resulted in a rounded number 450,500,100, ext. lol I also have used a rare transmission Dyno mostly for my projects and prototype transmission parts testing .
my signature is below every post , your is “Always use quality parts not landfill”
you are confusing signature with an avatar.
Mine you thought was a mythical woman ROLMAO no it’s Callisto , google Major Matt Mason . You were obviously never a kid? 🤪
